Celebrating 55 years of photography by John H. Sullivan, Jr.
(site under construction)

Married for 54 years, Jack and Joan Sullivan live in Potomac, Maryland, where they raised a family of 9 children. Trained as an architect at Catholic University through the G.I. Bill of Rights following World War II, Jack became passionate about architectural photography in 1950 when his Italian mother (herself an avid amateur photographer) gave him his first Leica M3 camera.

Over the course of the next half century, Jack established a successful architectural firm and traveled extensively throughout the United States to document not only architecture and construction, but also the beautiful landscapes of New England, Appalachia and the Rocky Mountains. His large body of work includes thousands of portraits of people at work, home and play, always with a humorous eye for the unexpected. He recently travelled to Ireland, the birthplace of both his paternal grandparents, and will return there again in June 2005 to celebrate his 80th birthday.

Jack was one of the youngest members of the prestigious Alpha Camera Club in Washington, D.C., and is represented by Photo Researchers in New York City. The photograph to the left was taken of Jack and Joan in Dupont Circle, Washington, D.C., in 2000.
